Description
For sale here is an old violin, as pictured.Description: This is a full-size violin, measuring about 23 3/8" long overall, 14 1/8" body length and 8 1/4" wide at the widest point. The one-piece
top is spruce, and the one-piece
back, sides and neck are maple. Inside is a label that reads "MEDIO-FINO
."
MEDIO-FINO was a trade mark used by the Jerome Thibouville Lamy firm of Mirecourt, France. This violin was probably made before World War 1.
Condition: As found at the local flea market and as seen in the pictures.
There are no cracks anywhere in this violin. I see no open seams. The upper treble-side top corner is chipped, but otherwise the top edges have almost no wear. There is a gap in the lower rib joint at the end button, but both ribs are securely glued to the block. The original varnish
is
completely intact with very little wear or scratching. There is no fingerboard, nut or pegs. The sound post is standing up inside.
There is no case or bow included.
The condition of the violin can best be assessed by looking at the pictures. Look at them; they are part of the description.
To be made playable, this violin needs a fingerboard plus the usual set-up procedures: nut, pegs, bridge, tail piece, strings, chinrest, etc. Please contact me if you have any questions or if you want more pictures.
Because this violin is in such good condition, without any cracks, it is an excellent repair/set-up project. Because it is a project, it
is being sold as is with no return option. Please bid accordingly.
