    Description

Hard to find Shiro Suzuki violin. This 1/4 size instrument was made in Matsumoto, Japan, where Shiro had his atelier which he operated with his brother, Shinichi Suzuki, who founded the Suzuki teaching method. These instruments are hard to find outside of Japan, and are generally offered for sale for about double this price. The condition is excellent, with just a few surface scuffs and dings - with a little scratching under the tailpiece and some wear to the finish where the feet of the bridge sit. There is some beautiful lateral flaming through the rich lustrous finish on the rear, and the front has a very attractive hue, graduated from burnished chestnut in the center into amber at the edges. Comes with two period bows - one has been repaired, but it seems like a solid job. The case is also vintage, with some scuffing and wear to the edges, but it remains in good functional shape with all its hardware intact and an attractive plush blue interior. A fabulous instrument with an excellent pedigree for a young enthusiast who has demonstrated significant flair for the art.
