    Description

This violin was probably made in Germany, as were most of the Scherl & Roth instruments from this period.  The label, with serial number H 18332, indicates it was made in 1979. It also has a label on the other side showing it is modeled after a Stradivarius violin from 1713.
The violin body measures  13 1/8" long. The back is made from one piece of lightly figured curly maple, with similar wood on the sides and neck. There are numerous small nicks and scratches as would be expected of a student violin of this age, and the edges are a bit worn. No repairs are evident however, other than a little varnish touch up of the nicks. There is a little bit of the point missing on the lower left f-hole which does not affect the tone or playability.
The violin is housed in a new lightweight case ( value) and is partnered with an good quality
    old
    Brazilwood bow.
The violin has a warm, rich tone with good clarity and ease of response. Strung with lightly used Thomastic Dominant strings (a new set is around ). A great value for the young violinist looking for an instrument of good quality at a fair price.
