    Description

The fine item you are considering is a
Vintage 1776 Gennaro Gagliano Janurius Gaglianus Violin. I have no idea if this violin actually dates to 1776, but I’ll relate what he label says, and you can take a look at the photos and decide for yourself. The label reads “Janurius Gaglianus (which I suspect is Gennaro Gagliano) Alumnus Antonin Stradavarii, Facit Neapoli Ao: 1776” with the “76” written in old ink by hand. The instrument has a few issues, these being that it has a repair on the back where it appears the wood had once separated, and it also looks like at some point a new headstock was put on (see photos). The violin measures approximately 24” long overall, with the body measuring approximately 14 ¼” long. The instrument comes with the bridge, tailpiece and case as pictured. The violin is strung, but may need some set up work before it could actually be played (I really don’t know). Please see my photos to have a look at this nice item.
