Very Old 4/4 Full Size Violin branded Stainer

Description

Very old version of a Stainer model, likely made in Germany in mid-to-late 1800's, has considerable wear and charm.  Pegs have been bushed which is common for a violin this old. Remarkably, no cracks to the top, back, or ribs, but does appear to have minor repair of the edges and what appears to be an old repair of a partial break at the neck heel, but is stable and solid. The finish has been altered from the original - looks like much of the original finish was either worn or otherwise removed, and perhaps partially refinished. Has ebony fittings, and is a charming old fiddle.  String sounding length is 12 15/16" (338mm) and length of back is 14 1/8" (357mm). Includes a functional but worn case suitable for shipping.
