Description
This is a wonderful antique violin made by Stainer. The wood of the violin appears to be a beautiful hardwood. See the sides. It lacks one one string, which can be replaced. There do appear to be two minor cracks in the wood which are shown by the photographs. The back of the violin has the name quote "Stainer" imprinted and the interior of the violin has a label inside saying "Jacobus Stainer in Absam" on the first line, some Latin words on the second line, and "Made in Germany" on the third line. See the photograph. The bow which accompanies the violin also is made of beautiful wood with the handle inlaid with mother-of-pearl. It is very attractive. Please also note the very attractive white tip of the bow. The handle of the bow has the name "R. Emil Sachs" printed on it. Note that the strings of the bow, although somewhat intact, will have to be replaced. The case is in nice condition. I assume the case to be circa 1920 with a Bakelite handle. The case measures about 31 in long and 10 in wide. The violin measures 23 and 1/2 in long 8in wide and the body is 14 inches long. Starting price for this wonderful violin, bow and case is 5.00 Purchaser pays for the cost of shipping and postal insurance and any sales tax.
