Description
This listing is for a vintage Jackson-Guldan American violin, made in Colombia, Ohio.It has a very nice mellow flamed back, and a finely grained top. The scroll appears to be made of maple, and is carved ok. There is no actual purfling on this violin, it is drawn/painted on it seems. Soundpost is intact.
Bridge will NOT be set down during shipment. I have secured it using bubble wrap. Please do not worry, I have never had that be an issue.
List of Potential Repairs:
Warped Bow: Can be unwarped through a bow maker/specialist. Not sure if they'd be willing to take up that work however, the bow is nice, but I wouldn't classify it as a 'high end' bow. The frog and the screw are quite salvageable though.
Case: Rusted on the hinges. the thingy that holds the bow needs to be reglued. Some glueing and wire brushing the steel parts would fix it.
Violin: Replace/file down the bride so that it's height and slopes are proper. The g Gut string is broken so you will need to replace that. Tailpiece is made of soft wood, and the e string is cutting through. Will need to replace that.
Otherwise, no discernable issues, almost ready to play.
