GERMAN VIOLIN ~ LATE 19th
CENTURY
This full-size violin is late 19
th
century and labeled ‘Antonio Strad…Cremona fecit…’. It has a very nice, one-piece (slightly flamed) maple back, rib and neck. The belly (top) is fine to medium grained spruce, finished with an amber spirit varnish.
There is typical late 19
th
century German purfling and ebony fittings. The scroll is grafted onto the neck blank and outlined in black.

:
1) A late nineteenth century ‘Sarasate’ German bow, stamped with no wrap,
Brazilwood, silver nut. Straight. Mongolian horsehair included for fitting to
bow. Luthier valued at 0 to 0
2) A late nineteenth century German bow, stamped A. RENZ DRESDEN
Pernambuco with ivory nut. This bow needs restoration. Luthier valued at
0 if repaired.
3) Pernambuco octagonal bow with white frog w/double eye and silver wound.
Luthier valued at 0 to 0. Ready to use.
The case is in excellent condition and is equipped with a hygrometer and three compartments.
