Description
Here I have a beautiful, vintage 4/4 violin that is marked on the inside "Made in Germany, G. A. Pfretzschner, Markneukirchen, Copy of Joh. Bapt. Schweitzer" There is no date given, or any of serial number, but I believe this to be from the early 1900's to 1930's.. This violin is a very fine example. It has a beautiful flamed back. This violin is in excellent original condition and shows no signs of ever being repaired, or re-finished. There are no cracks (past or present), and all of the seems are tight with no separation. As you can see in the pictures, there is only minor scuffing of the finish in a few spots. If you look on the right side there is a chip on the tip of the corner.
The violin body measures 14 1/4" long, 6 1/2" at the widest point of the upper bout, and 8" at the widest point of the lower bout. The entire violin is 23 1/4" long. All strung up, the violin weighs only 1 pound. Comes with an unbranded Bow 29" 4/4 that's in Very Good condition. Also a Bausch 29" 4/4 55 Gram Bow. I think the Bausch Bow came with the violin or at least the same error (1900-1930s). The case is in okay condition. It has seen it's better days. The outside is in torn, scuffed and cracked around the outer edge. All the latches work properly. Feel free to ask any questions. Thank you for viewing
