FVIR (Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant) or FTR Fixed Thermal Release

Description

Fixed Thermal Release for Rheem, Ruud, GE or Richmond water heaters. No need to replace your water heater if it's not leaking water. If the pilot won't light or stay lit, remove burner assembly and check this part (FVIR) first. It's located behind the burner in the burner chamber. If the safety glass is broken, replace it with the one that we can send you. The pilot won't light or stay lit until the failed FVIR is replaced. To replace it, push down hard on the failed FVIR and turn it and it will pop up. Do the reverse to install the replacement FVIR.
