    Description

Here's an incredible sounding old violin.  The violin was previously restored, French polished, and set up by a professional music store from which it was purchased.  There is an old label inside that reads Marcus Stainer Burgeria Geigenmacher in Kuefstein anno 1852?  There is a picture of the label included.  There are some previous, older repairs visible. The button has had an ebony heel added to it, and there are some stable old repairs visible on the ribbing in a couple different spots. There's a small nick on the edge of the instrument in the lower bout area, directly under that a repair to the ribbing, so probably related. There is a small elliptical shaped knot in the wood in the lower left side bout area.  The strings are Dominants and most of the hardware including the pegs is newer.  Included is a nice case and a good silver mounted German 1 star Dorfler bow.  From what I found on the internet a 1 star silver mounted Dorfler bow goes for around 0-00!  The instrument is very responsive and the tone is sonorous. I have tried dozens of instruments over the years in music shops and there have been many that are far more expensive and have not sounded nearly as good. I was very surprised by the tone quality when I bowed the instrument. Upper bout 6 1/2", lower bout 8 1/8", body is a little over 14", total length about 23 1/4".  Shipping within the US only.  Insured with signature required. Thanks for looking and please ask any questions if you have them.
