  • Condition: The Hopf Violin needs some TLC, and has a few very small cracks on it's top (back+sides OK). The Grimm Violin Bow needs the Hairs + the adjustment tightening unit has a "H H" scratched in it, and is missing a bit of the Mother of Perl decoration.

    Description

    I purchased this Antique "Hopf" Full Size Violin (4/4) and a "Grimm" Violin Bow, in a very nice Violin Hard Case, at a Estate Sale, and I know little about these things. Checking both of these items out I found that Hopf and Grimm were old German Violin and Bow makers, going back to the 1800 d's or so ( I don't know exactly when these were made though). The Grimm Bow has "Grimm" marked on one side, and "Germany" on the other side of it. Both Violin and Bow need some TLC. The top of the Violin looks like someone tried to re-varnish it, and made a mess of it, so it'll need someone who knows what he's doing. It also has a few small cracks on the top (not bad though). The Bottom and sides of the Hopf are OK. The Grimm Bow needs the hairs, and is missing a couple of the Mother of Perl decoration chips. Some barbarian also scratched "H H" into the Hair Adjustment unit. The Violin hard case is in very good condition. Because I know little about these things, I'm selling all as is. Buyer pays shipping.
