    Description

This is a pristine violin in beautiful and
    extraordinarily good
    condition
and it's origin is a mystery and it's age unknown. It features traits from several regions: It is a transitional model meaning it is between baroque and modern
. That usually dates it between 1780 and 1850, after the baroque era but before the modern era that started 1820-1850 The neck length is baroque at just under 5", while the neck angle and fingerboard are more modern. While it is all original, the neck looks to be carved in the method of Northern Germany by Neukirchen, while the body has higher shoulders like Klingenthal, yet the varnish is not Klingenthal, more like Bohemian or northern Germany as well. The condition of this violin is amazing
    for such an old instrument,
with only two previous minor repairs on the body.
    This stunning violin is
    unlabeled,
and the outline is an Antonius Stradivarius model, yet t
he f-holes are not Stradivari, but personal and unusually long, again, not a Saxon trait, but m ore like Brescia, similar to Maggini and Da Salo f-holes.
The tonewood used on the back, neck, and ribs are faint curl maple and well chosen as the tone of this violin is outstanding.
Combined with the medium-wide grain spruce of this violin, it produces a sweet. powerful, and projecting tone. It needs to be used by a first class musician to be fully appreciated. It sounds so very, very good.
    This is an outstanding violin.
The strings are new German Silver The setup includes
    a
    high-quality
    bridge,
ebony tailpiece with fine tuner, an adjustable Sacconi Tailgut, and a new ebony center mounted chinrest. The pegs are new ebony. The neck button has been pinned
    .
Length of back is just under 14" adding mystique to it's age, upper bout 6-1/2", lower bout is 8-1/8", and overall is just under 23" and stop length is 320mm, so it is ideal for small hands or someone of shorter stature. The all original brown varnish is in good condition and overcoated with clear varnish on both the top and back.
A case and bow will be included.
