    Description

This is a beautiful violin made in Mirecourt, France circa 1860 at the Jerome Thibeauville-Lemy workshop and is labeled Medio-Fino and JTL. It is a Stradivarius model. There is no country of origin on either label indicating it was made before the McKinley Tariff act of 1885.The JTL family made good instruments in the Mirecourt, France. The build method is earlier post Revolution French and the wood is low altitude plain figured maple and wide grained spruce. It sounds incredibly good.
Have fun playing it. This is an outstanding violin.
The new strings are German Silver. The bridge is an Aubert, and the soundpost was
    just replaced
and an adjustable Sacconi Tailgut installed in the new Witner style tailpiece. There is a previously repaired short upper treble side f-hole crack extending up about 1". That is the only repair I can find. That is amazing for such an old instrument.
Length of back is 14-1/8", upper bout 6-3/4", lower bout is 8-3/8", and overall is 23-1/4". The original reddish brown varnish is in good condition.
These Medio-Fino violins usually sound good and this one is even better than average. It's tone and projection are outstanding.
The original wood case and a usable bow will be included.
Will be packed and shipped professionally for a safe arrival. I go out of my way to make buyers happy. Please feel free to ask any questions about this instrument.
