Description
This is a fine violin in beautifulcondition
and was made in Klingenthal, Saxony, Germany circa 1850-1870 and
likely made
by F.A. Glass II. The condition of this violin is amazing, with not a single major crack anywhere on the body with a tiny wing crack less than 1/2" long on the lower treble side f-hole.
The condition is incredible for a 150+year old instrument.
This stunning violin is
labeled as an Antonius Stradivarius
and stamped on the scroll Concert Violin Stradivarius with minor shading to make it look much older.
The precise sound holes and edgework IMHO show that maker's craftmanship.
The tonewoods used on the back and ribs are beautiful, and exactly what the top makers were searching for. The
Carpathian
highly figured maple combined with the medium grain spruce on this violin produces a sweet. powerful, and projecting tone. It needs to be used by a professional musician to be fully appreciated. It sounds very good.
This is an outstanding violin.
The strings are German Silver and are bright, while a set of synthetic gut strings would add even more color and overtones to this already fabulous instrument. The setup includes
a high quality
bridge,
a new ebony tailpiece with fine tuner, an adjustable Sacconi Tailgut, and an ebony chinrest. The pegs are new ebony.
Length of back is 14-1/8", upper bout 6-5/8", lower bout is 8-1/16", and overall is 23". The original gold-brown varnish is in good condition.
A nice case and good quality bow will be included.
Will be packed and shipped professionally for a safe arrival. I go out of my way to make buyers happy. Please feel free to ask any questions about this instrument.
