ANTIQUE *** NICOLAUS AMATUS *** 4/4 VIOLIN

Description

This fine instrument is labeled " NICOLAUS AMATUS fecit in CREMAONA 1690". It has a one piece flamed maple back, and the top looks like tight spruce. As you can see on the pictures, this instrument is made with quality aged woods , including the side walls that are also flamed wood.  The inlaid wood all around ( I believe its called purfling) , is maticulous, and the scroll work on the peg box is excellent. It looks like the finger board was elevated at some point, and it is clear to see that the running pegs are very nice and perhaps not original. The pictures pretty much tell the whole story. This violin looks like it could be valuable? It will be shipped in the old case pictured, which looks original.  The payment is due within 48 hours after auction ends . Sold as found, and sale is final.
