    Description

This listing is for an antique full-size (4/4) copy of a Giovanni Paolo Maggini violin made in Germany circa 1920, so it is about 100 years old.  See picture of internal label.  Of special note, and characteristic of Maggini-style violins, are the
    double
    inlaid purfling
on both top and bottom surfaces, and the
    extra twist in the scroll
(see pictures).  The varnish is a beautiful glossy blend of amber and reddish color and the back is nicely tiger-striped and shaded.  Strings are name brand, high quality, and relatively new.  The Aubert De Luxe bridge is hand-carved and also relatively new.  The ebony upper nut is new.  The shoulder rest is vintage and nicely complements the antique violin.  The violin is in excellent condition, has no cracks, no repaired cracks, no separations, and does not look like it ever had any negative issues.  The top and bottom surfaces have almost no blemishes--this 100-year old violin appears almost as new.  It is ready to play and sounds great.  Why rent a violin when you can have a beautiful antique that will only gain value over time?
The violin comes with a decent faux brown alligator skin case that is likely from the same time period as the violin; it is lined with an old light green velvet-like material and includes a blanket in similar (but not exact) fabric and color.
    No bow is included
    .
The violin and case will be very carefully packed and quickly shipped to the buyer.
    Please note
: It is for sale locally and if it sells locally, I may have to end the listing early.
