Antique 19th Century Violin w/ Case

Antique Violin
An estate violin that was owned by a violinist who played during the early part of the 20th C.  Keep with the family until they decided that it needs to be appreciated.
I know little about violins so please ask all questions.  I don't see any markings on the instrument. The case is old, see pics of handle so you can gauge the age. There's a small piece of dowel that found its way inside the violin, so patience is needed to fish it out.
The top has one stress crack to the wood ... see pic.
Other than that, the piece looks good, and with signs that it was used ... you can see where the violinist's hands wore through the varnish on the neck.
See close up detail of the edges so as to discern age of this violin.  From what I was told, the violin is Continental 19th C.  Not American, and not student/starter.
