Description
Travel back in time with this fine oldviolin. Two inside labels. One identifies it as a Stradivarius copy made by E.R. Pfretzscher in 1936 in Mittenwald, Germany. The second label identifies it as shop adjusted by Scherl & Roth in Cleveland, Ohio in August 1996.
With a 13-1/8" body and 21-3/4" overall length, it's a 3/4-sized instrument.
Two-piece deeply flamed maple back. Lightly flamed maple sides and neck. Tightly grained spruce top. I think the fingerboard is ebony, not dyed. The pegs and peg heads are in good round.
Cosmetically, it's in fine shape. The top has some minimal play and age wear. No cracks. Overall, it looks very nice.
Structurally and functionally, it's in fine shape. The sound post is standing. Four fine tuners.
The bow looks like a Scherl & Roth bow, but is unmarked. The bow is in fine condition.
The molded black plastic case looks like it's from the 1990s and is in fine shape. The case handle, latches, and hinges all work properly.
It's a fine instrument, ready to play.
