    Description

Here is a very fine 4/4 Mittenwald violin labeled Barthol Karner 1784.
A little history. I have used this violin as a backup instrument in my travels. It really has a magnificent tone. The violin formerly belonged to a girl who went on to Juilliard and then ended up in a music shop where I obtained it. It has a number of old repairs. I took it to David Folland who renewed everything on the instrument, fingerboard, nut, saddle, pegs, top bridge and soundpost and it sounds gorgeous! The tone has generous warmth, clarity and good power. Its even and responsive a real delight to play!
It is labeled Karner and might be from the Karner family. It is definitely from Mittenwald late 18th century and if it didnt have any repairs Id ask a lot more for it. Its performance ready and needs no further work, just a loving home.
If you are looking for a violin that has the magic, this is it!
